Rookie Banger Racing
Rookie Bangers have been Spedeworth's success story of the late 90's, with over subscribed grids more the norm than not! This is a 'limited contact' class for up to 1600cc cars and is aimed at getting spectators off the terraces and on to the track for the first time, with the minimum of expense and preparation.
Having to retain the radiator in the original position means no one can get too heavy with the contact aspect but there is still enough to keep the casual spectator interested!
Rookie Bangers (now known as just 'Bangers' at Spedeworth) are also known as 'Nudge & Spin', 'Bombers', 'Production Stox' as well as many other names. The rules remain the same and the preparation is kept to a minimum.
Rookie Bangers brings Bangers back to basics. No expensive race engines, no brand new tyres and no 'setting the car up'! Just a stripped out old car painted up in bright colours.
Spedeworth Rookie Bangers also impose a strict ruling on what cars can, and can't be raced. As mentioned above all cars must be under 1600cc but further to that, drivers can't race the Ford Cortina or Capri, nor can they use the Nissan Bluebird or Primera, A60 or Toyota Starlet.
