Metro Banger Racing
Metro Banger Racing is as the name suggests, Banger Racing in Metro's.
With all the cars being the same size and pretty much evenly matched in terms of engine size, it is left to driver skill (and not the size of your wallet) to sort the men from the boys!
With only one or two meetings a year for these 'baby bangers' drivers tend to go all-out wrecking as there is no need to try and save the car for the next meeting. This usually results in an enjoyable evenings racing leaving the crowd in fits of laughter.
In the mid nineties drivers would race either the Austin Metro or the Austin Mini, with some interesting variations in the form of the Riley Elf and the Mini Traveler. Nowadays, the Rover Metro seems to be the favoured tool.
There have even been a few 'home-made' limousines and 'front and back' steering stretched Metros raced.
